Product details
Hurdy Gurdy is a meticulous recreation of the authentic Eastern European folk instrument, and lends itself to folk, folk-rock, alt-folk and sound design with a uniquely erratic and uneven sound. The hurdy-gurdy creates sound by rubbing a rosined wooden wheel across violin-style strings, whose pitches are then stopped with a little keyboard of wooden pegs. Two or three strings, sometimes tuned an octave apart, play melodic lines while several additional drone strings hold down a single note or interval as accompaniment.
